After February 1942, all GM production was devoted to military contracts save for the Saginaw Plant which continued to produce parts for existing civilian model trucks.
Then, with the requirements of the military being satisfied by production, from 1 January 1944 until 31 August 1945, 1942-style civilian trucks were started to be built in small numbers as authorised by the U.S. W.P.B. [War Purchase Board], with prices fixed by the O.P.A. [Office of Price Adminstration]. In Canada, civilian model trucks started to be produced for authorised users in 1944, built on the same lines that produced M.C.P. [Modified Conventional Pattern] trucks.
