UFC 88: Breakthrough was a mixed martial arts event held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) on September 6, 2008 at Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. The event was headlined by a light heavyweight bout between Chuck Liddell and Rashad Evans.

* Middleweight bout: Canada Jason MacDonald vs. United States Jason Lambert

MacDonald defeated Lambert via submission (rear naked choke) at 1:21 in round 2.
Jason Day was originally scheduled to fight Jason Lambert but had to pull out of the fight with an elbow and biceps injury. This bout aired last on the PPV broadcast following the Liddell vs. Evans fight.

* Light heavyweight bout: United States Tim Boetsch vs. United States Mike Patt

Boetsch defeated Patt via TKO at 2:03 of round 1. This bout aired on the PPV broadcast following the Henderson vs. Palhares fight.

* Welterweight bout: Brazil Roan Carneiro vs. Japan Ryo Chonan

Chonan defeated Carneiro via split decision (29–28, 29–28, 28–29). This bout was originally scheduled to take place at UFC 85 in London, England, but an injury forced Ryo Chonan off the card.

* Lightweight bout: Brazil Thiago Tavares vs. United States Kurt Pellegrino

Pellegrino defeated Tavares via unanimous decision (29–28, 29–27, 29–27).

Kim defeated Brown by split decision (29–28, 28–29, 29–28).

* Middleweight bout: Denmark Martin Kampmann vs. United States Nate Marquardt

* Middleweight bout: United States Dan Henderson vs. Brazil Rousimar Palhares

Henderson defeated Palhares by unanimous decision (30–27, 30–27, 29–28).
