The New EK Holden

This page is dedicated to the history of the EK Holden. The 'EK' was produced between 1961 and 1962, and was the last of the Holdens with fins.

The EK was the first model Holden to offer an automatic transmission as an option. The Hydramatic was available on request on all models.

The EK was produced in four distinct body styles. These were the sedan, station wagon, panel van and utility.

The EK was also offered in two levels of refinement;

Standard - The basic car, with no additional trimming or fittings. The body of this model was painted in a single colour. These were sometimes purchased as Taxis or rental vehicles.

Special - The most popular model, with stainless steel trims along the side, chrome Special badges, two tone vinyl interiors, as well as a better choice of exterior colours with a white roof.

Utility & Panel Van - The EK was also offered as two commercial vehicles. These were the Utility and the Panel Van. In appearance they were almost identical to the previous model, the FB. In fact, the FB rear quarter panels and tail lights were carried over to the EK commercials.
