Hot Rod Magazine 50th Anniversary Cover Car

Select to Enlarge

1927 Ford

This well executed roadster was built to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first issue of Hot Rod magazine, which was published in January 1948. It was designed to evoke the spirit of the magazine's first cover car, which was constructed by Regg Schlemmer in 1947 and driven to the then high top speed of 136 miles an hour at the El Mirage dry lake. Since the Schlemmer car was dismantled many years ago, this modern interpretation was specially desigend to evoke the look and feel of the original car, but with a more contemporary appearance. Built by renown hot rod constructor Roy Brizo of Brizo's Street Rods in south San Francisco, it is powered by a Ford V-8 equipped with Edelbrock speed equipment.

Currently on display at the Petersen Automotive Museum.
