Don Varner

Don Varner is an industrial designer by day, and an awesome automobile designer by night. Here are a few of his designs.

The California Star

Don Varner is a designer whose love of automobiles and good design are one in the same. With a relentless level of desire, Don has been able to achieve a unique statement of going in style. The California Star is the third collaboration between Don Varner and Ron Covell. 5,000 man-hours spanning almost three years went into the creation of this ground up custom. The California Star began traditionally enough, based on a `27 Model T ragtop (the resemblance is muted at best.) Other influences in the California Star's design were track roadsters and Indy championship cars, but the end result is an original, unique show car.
