That 70's Van - Season 3 - Episode 12

Chip, A.J. and Chris time-travel back to the bicentennial year as they prank John while reinventing his 1976 Chevy van. They get a lot of help from both John’s daughter, Danielle, and Danielle’s husband, Phil. Hot Rod Car Craft is where the van experiences a rebir th. That takes place as John learns that his son-in-law had the van stolen out from under him, supposedly happening as Phil was using John’s van to pick up a swing set.

John is beside himself. The van is the machine of his youth, he partied in that van, he met his wife back when the van was rolling in full force; John’s ‘76 van is a part of who he is. Back at Hot Rod Car Craft, the van gets everything it needs and more. One bonus touch is the airbrush work of Mike Lavallee. On John’s van, Mike designs unique ghost flames and ties them into a cool fire-breathing dragon. The van also gets audio and video galore. When it’s time for John to see the completed van, the final prank has Phil bringing John an old junk ‘76 van to work on; it will be their father-in-law/son-in-law project. John flat-out says no; he doesn’t want a project. Instead, he soon gets his fully reinvented van.
